1. What districts/schools do you serve?

In the past three school years, we have performed services for 18 out of the 29 Orange County districts on a part or full time basis. We have also contracted extensively in Northern San Diego County, San Bernardino County, and Riverside County.  For feedback from your fellow principals and administrators, click here.

We also contract with nonpublic schools. Most recently, we have worked with programs for students with emotional needs and students on the autism spectrum.

2. How do districts and nonpublic schools use your services?

We are most often used to handle caseload expansions or position vacancies, but are also contacted for maternity/disability leaves, evaluation assistance, and individual students (e.g. an at home program). The vast majority of contracts are for an entire school year, or for the remaining portion of a school year. We contract with the schools year round.

3. Do you ever serve special populations such as early intervention students or children who are deaf and hard of hearing?

Yes we do! Our SLPs/SLPAs have a wide variety of specialty areas, and are enthusiastic about using their skills. In the past year we have seen students with special programs for autism, hearing impairments, orthopedic handicaps, and early intervention.

4. Our district/nonpublic school needs a speech therapist or speech therapist assistant– what do I do next?

Just contact us or click here for an online inquiry to start the discussion process. You will receive a response within 48 hours.

If you think a clinician will be needed, it is critical that you notify us as soon as possible. Although we have new SLP/SLPAs start with our agency throughout the year, our staff is popular and often booked months in advance.

If you have questions or concerns, the telephone number for our main staffing office is 714-731-6630, or you may reach us by email at pacificcoastspeech@earthlink.net.

5. How do we set up the paperwork/payment?

PCSS charges on an hourly basis for our services. School holidays and nonstudent days are excluded unless our attendance is requested.

PCSS provides a confirmation of contract letter to you prior to beginning a contract. This confirmation outlines our understanding of the position (e.g. caseload, school site, etc) and includes an estimated budgetary figure for the year or the length of the contract. As soon as we receive a signed copy of this confirmation, we retain a contracting SLP or SLPA.

Each month you will receive a bill for services, which includes a copy of our contractor’s attendance roster as well as an hourly billing sheet. We are happy to provide additional documentation upon request. We expect payment for our services from your district within 30 – 45 days of invoicing.

Contracts are typically written for a school year, or the remaining portion of a school year. If you need to terminate the contract for any reason, you notify us in writing 30 days in advance. We are happy to train a new employee to assume our contracted caseload at your request.

6. Do you switch contractors during a school year?

Our reputation is based on honest, ethical treatment of both our contractors and our districts/NPS. In 17 years, we have terminated a clinician twice for cause, and terminated a contract three times for cause. We have changed the assigned clinician mid-year less than five times, and in all cases the district was warned at the onset of the contract that the contractor was available for only a portion of the year (e.g. an out of state move, a pregnancy, etc).

7. Do you see individual students off site?

We do not have a freestanding clinic. The vast majority of our services are provided at the school’s site. However, we have several clinicians that are willing to see individual students at their private clinics or the student’s home. If you have a need for an individual student, feel free to call us.
